Warren Hovland is an Adjunct
Instructor in Aviation Education at SDSU. He earned Bachelors and Masters
degrees in electrical engineering from SDSU, and is a Computer Specialist in the
SDSU Department of Administrative and Research Computing. Since beginning
flight lessons at SDSU in 1978, he has logged 3000 flight hours and holds a commercial
license rated for airplane single-engine land and sea, airplane multi-engine land,
and instrument airplane. He holds a flight instructor certificate with ratings
for airplane single- and multi-engine and instrument airplane. His flight
experience includes flights for business and pleasure, Part 135 charter operations,
flight instruction, and piloting Cessna jump planes. In addition, he is a
USPA D-licensed and PRO-rated skydiver and static-line instructor, holds a senior
parachute rigger certificate, and has accumulated 1600 sport parachute jumps and
14 hours of freefall (if riding in an airplane is flying, then riding in a boat
is swimming…to experience the environment, you have to get out of the vehicle!).
He is part owner of two aircraft, a 1992 AG-5B Tiger and a 1946 J3 Cub. Warren
and his wife Denise live in Brookings with their cat named Oski.
